This is a clear injustice. Charges haven’t been pressed against people who’ve enrolled their kids under false pretenses into Norwalk’s school system prior to this incident. Maybe it’s the fact that she’s not only poor, but black, that makes the difference between a slap on the wrist and full-on criminal charges. How can we live in a world where someone who lives in poverty is charged with larceny (a crime involving the wrongful acquisition of the personal property of another person) for sending their child to a good school system with broader opportunities than a low-income district? Apparently a good education only belongs to those who can afford it…
